Born 1993

Bierman is an American interdisciplinary artist residing in Los Angeles, California. Born in New York, Bierman earned their BFA in Fiber with a concentration Sustainability and Social Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland in 2015.

Since graduating Bierman has worked in a variety of creative capacities in commercial, non-profit and government sectors, notably Friends of Tivoli Lake Preserve and Farm, Inc. in and the New York State Senate. Bierman has exhibited their independent work in venues throughout New York including New York City. They are a recipient of New York State’s Decentralization Grant Program.

Their work is rich in symbolism, drawing upon nature, mythos, folklore, and occulture to illustrate the subconscious and its struggles, yearnings and emotions. These experiences sit out of reach of logic, reason and language, and are often unacknowledged, or purposefully repressed.

Bierman’s intricately detailed drawings, materialize meaning from these fantastical visions, and highlight the simultaneous beauty and terror of life.
